Change Default Share Text

When a customer decides to share their unique referral link with friends - either through the rewards popup, the Share Referral Link popup, or elsewhere - they'll typically be offered three ways to do so: via Twitter, Facebook, or email. This article shows you how to customize all of the default text associated with each of those share options.

In the Referral Program section of your Swell account, just click on the green "Customize Referral Program" button. Then, scroll to the bottom to customize all of the share text:

Here's a quick guide when it comes to each of the fields available for you to customize:

  • Default message your customers can share on social media: This is the default Tweet which your customers will see when sharing their referral links on Twitter.
  • Header text for Facebook share message: A brief bolded tag line which appears when a customer shares their referral link on Facebook. The customer will not have the option to edit this prior to posting.
  • Default subject for email customers can send to their friends: The suggested subject line when a customer emails their friends to share their referral link.
  • Default message for email customers can send to their friends: This is the suggested body of the email which your customers can use to share their referral link. When editing the default message in your Swell account, it's especially important to keep the *|referral_link|* tag -- otherwise, Swell will not be able to automatically insert each customer's referral link!

In addition, Facebook also allows you to include a brief description of your store when a customer shares their referral link as well. You can edit your store description in the Store Settings section of your Swell account (in the Description field).
